NAVY AND WHITE DRESSES FOR SPRING/SUMMER & MY NO-MAKEUP MAKEUP LOOK

Simple, No-Fuss Dressing

I've been investing more in dresses of late, because they make choosing outfits so much easier. Just one clothing item to think about–love that! Also, they keep me comfortable and cool in our extreme summer heat (and, lately, our very warm winter).

I found this dress last year, and many more navy and white dresses are showing up in stores right now. Below, you'll find some of my favorite classic styles that are currently on line. The one I'm wearing here, in this exact print, is no longer available, but I found the same and similar J.McLaughlin dresses in other prints and I show them below, too (several are on sale, including here and here). They all are made of a seasonless material, which resists wrinkling well and makes all the dresses perfect for traveling.

Simple, Clean Moisturizer and Makeup

The day I wore this outfit, it was in the low 80s and I knew I would be spending a lot of time outside. I wanted my skin to look as natural as possible in daylight, so I decided to try using my powder foundation as a concealer, rather than an all-over foundation.

First, I liberally spritzed mineral-rich spring water all over my face. (Mountain Valley Spring Water, the same water we drink, and we order it in five-gallon glass bottles.) I used a 4-ounce glass spray bottle to spritz it on my face, and while my face was wet I applied a few drops of Bragg Organic Olive Oil (same olive oil we use on salads), and then dabbed on a little Aura Cacia Organic Cocoa Butter (which I first warmed up on the back of my hand).

After waiting for these to be absorbed, I then applied the 100% Pure Foundation only to areas and spots that I wanted to camouflage. I applied it lightly, so that you could still see my skin through it. I didn't try to totally hide my discoloration and spots. I just lightened them a little. In other areas of my face, I didn't apply any foundation.

I applied my 100% Pure Lipstick lightly, too, by dabbing it on with my finger, and then also used it as my cheek color. Lastly, I combed a little Pacifica Mascara through my lashes to darken, lengthen, and thicken them slightly.

I really like the final result, because it looks quite like real skin.  Just three makeup products, and all are clean (manufactured without harmful ingredients). It's perfect for casual days when you want to look just a bit more finished than totally makeup-free.

What I Wore

(ABOVE & BELOW) After moisturizing my face with a spray of mineral-rich spring water (from 4-ounce Glass Spray Bottle),  followed by organic olive oil and organic cocoa butter, I applied a light amount of100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Powder Foundation, just on trouble spots (not all over my face), 100% Pure Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick, Cactus Bloom, on my lips and cheeks, and Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length and Strength Mineral Mascara, Supernova. I wanted to create a natural looking stain on my lips, so I dabbed on just a tiny amount of the lip color with my fingertip. However, if you want the color as bright as it is below, simply apply it straight from the tube. In this post, I wore it full strength to coordinate with my bright coral cropped pants.
